Inhale/Exhale consists of two large crocheted mandalas. The act of crochet is a meditative practice that allows me to let go of control and surrender to the flow of the stitches. Each stitch is an intentional act of mindfulness, as I repurpose otherwise discarded materials that have had a previous life and imbue them with new meaning and purpose. The mandala itself symbolizes wholeness, unity, and interconnectedness, reflecting the cyclical nature of life and the universe. Through these oversized, net-like mandalas, I aim to evoke a sense of peace and wonder in the viewer. It is an invitation to let go of the need for control, embrace the present moment, and connect with the deeper rhythms of life. The use of repurposed materials serves as a visual reminder of the importance of sustainability and conscious consumption as well as a representation of my relationship with the environment, mental health, and the profound interplay between the two.
