Las Muñecas is a series of lifesize soft sculpture “dolls” that resent a celebration of individuality and the resilience of the human spirit. The bodies of the dolls are crafted using colorful, hand-dyed fabric with techniques such as shibori and wax resist, creating vibrant textures that evoke a sense of playfulness and innocence, while also symbolizing the challenges of growing up and finding one's place in society. The faces and other body parts of "Las Muñecas" are sculpted from polymer clay, featuring realistic skin tones with added elements such as extra eyes, noses, and mouths. These unconventional features represent the diverse and multifaceted nature of humanity while addressing the often bizarre reality of societal norms and expectations.
